PNR is not just a 10 digit number. It is made up of many different data elements. The number has to be guarded and maintained securely. It carries many personal details of an individual. PNR is not only used to check PNR STATUS but also contains information about the passenger for security reasons. The following data elements are connected along with the passenger name record.
1. Name
The name of the passenger traveling along with his/her family and middle names and the title is recorded.
2.Address
The permanent home address, billing address, email address are obtained for verification purposes.
3. Phone Number
The phone number, either landline or mobile number, of the individual is obtained in case of emergency contact.
4. Advanced Passenger Information (API)
Any information about the passenger such as passport details, birth date and nationality is recorded in the PNR.
5. Frequent Flyer
The status of the passenger with respect to his/her information on frequent flyer is submitted.
6. Locator code
The booking number or transaction id used while booking the ticket is connected to the PNR number.
7.Number
The number of passengers that are travelling on the same itinerary is also recorded.
8.Status
The PNR status while booking the tickets is recorded and the updated PNR status is also included.
9.Date
The date when the ticket was booked, the travel dates in the itinerary, the issue date for PNR, the issue date for the ticket, reservation date are all stored in the records.
10. PNR information
The passengers who are booked on a single ticket with a single PNR are all recorded separately.
11. Ticketing information
The booking date of the ticket is stored along with the class (business or economy) and the city where the ticket has been purchased. The ticket number which is different from the PNR number is also required.
12. Itinerary
PNR is used for security reasons mainly because they contain all the travel details of the passenger. The origin city and the arrival city along with transit details are recorded. The flight information such as flight name, date, connection details are also stored.
13. Check – in
The check in information is updated into the PNR database after the boarding of the flight is done. The security number issued at the check in counter, baggage information which includes the number of bags, weight and the code are all entered into the database. In the case of lost baggage, this information can be used to track the status of the baggage.
14. Travel Agent
The information about the agency that booked the tickets on behalf of the passenger along with their address and contact information are recorded.
15.Show or No show
This information is updated after the boarding of the flight to check the status of the passenger whether he/she boarded the flight or not.
